“Khamosh” No More: Shatrughan Sinha Moves Court to Protect His Iconic Dialogue – Woman’s era Magazine
Veteran actor and politician Shatrughan Sinha has approached the Bombay High Court seeking protection of his personality rights. The plea aims to prevent the unauthorised commercial use of his name, image, voice, likeness and his iconic catchphrase “Khamosh,” which became synonymous with his on-screen persona over decades in Hindi cinema.
Sinha Seeking Protection Against Misuse

In his petition, Sinha has argued that his identity carries substantial goodwill and commercial value built over a long career in the film industry and public life. He has requested the court to restrain individuals, companies and online platforms from using his persona without consent. According to the plea, such usage — including altered visuals, memes, merchandise and digital content — misleads the public and infringes upon his rights.
Legal Grounds Cited

The petition reportedly invokes constitutional protections, including the right to privacy under Article 21, along with performers’ rights under the Copyright Act. Sinha contends that the unauthorised circulation and monetisation of his identity amounts to a violation of these rights and damages his reputation.
Claim for Damages

Apart from seeking an interim injunction, the actor has also sought monetary relief. Reports suggest he has claimed damages running into crores, or alternatively, an account of profits earned from the alleged misuse of his personality.
