Taking to his X handle, Prakash Raj shared an update about joining the Hindi franchise. He wrote, “Shooting has begun for the Hindi franchise Drishyam 3. I have the opportunity to play a wonderful role with a great team. I hope you enjoy it. And yes, I am not replacing anyone.” With this clarification, the actor made it clear that he is not replacing Akshaye Khanna, but will instead be seen in a completely different role.

Akshaye Khanna’s departure from the film had sparked speculation. Director Abhishek Pathak, in a conversation with one of the media houses, revealed that the actor exited the project nearly five months before shooting began. According to the director, Akshaye’s look test had already been finalized. He had heard the script and appreciated it. However, a disagreement reportedly arose over wearing a wig for the character.

Due to this difference, Akshaye decided to step away from the project. Amid the buzz surrounding Akshaye Khanna’s exit, reports suggested that Jaideep Ahlawat would join the film as his replacement. Producer Kumar Mangat had reportedly stated that he had found a “better actor and a better person,” further fueling speculation. There were even reports about a possible legal notice being discussed.
