Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh has reportedly received a threatening WhatsApp message demanding crores of rupees, days after the shocking firing incident outside filmmaker Rohit Shetty’s residence. The Mumbai Police Crime Branch has begun investigating the matter, although neither Ranveer nor his team has filed a formal complaint yet. According to sources, the threatening message, reportedly a voice note was sent to Ranveer Singh on Tuesday.

The sender allegedly demanded a huge sum of money. After the threat surfaced, Mumbai Police were informed, and security outside the actor’s residence has been tightened. Authorities are currently working to trace the origin of the WhatsApp message and identify the sender. While no official complaint has been registered by the actor’s team so far, the police have taken the matter seriously given the recent security concerns in the city.

The threat comes shortly after a firing incident on January 31 outside Rohit Shetty’s home in Juhu. Five rounds were fired late at night while the filmmaker was present inside the house. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. The Mumbai Crime Branch has detained and arrested several suspects in connection with the case. The accused include, Aman Marote, Aditya Gayaki, Siddharth Yenpure, Samarth Pomaji, and Swapnil Sakat.

Police have also named Shubham Lonkar, allegedly linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, as a wanted accused. Investigators revealed that the attacker used a homemade weapon and fired five 7.62 mm cartridges. Forensic teams are examining whether the bullets were 7.62×39 mm or 7.62×51 mm. Officials suspect the involvement of multiple gang members and are scrutinizing bank accounts, financial transactions, and witness statements as part of the probe.

At this stage, authorities have not officially confirmed any direct link between the threat to Ranveer Singh and the firing outside Rohit Shetty’s home. However, the timing has raised concerns within the industry. With high-profile celebrities increasingly facing security risks, Mumbai Police are reportedly not taking any chances.
