The Supreme Court of India has strongly reprimanded YouTuber and Bigg Boss OTT winner Elvish Yadav in connection with the 2023 snake venom case. On Wednesday, a bench comprising Justices MM Sundaresh and N Kotiswar Singh heard Elvish Yadav\u2019s petition challenging the charge sheet and criminal proceedings filed against him. During the hearing, the two-judge bench made sharp observations, stating, \u201cYou cannot do whatever you want.\u201d<\/p>\n

The court clarified that the matter would be investigated under the Wildlife (Protection) Act and emphasized the seriousness of the allegations. The bench directly questioned Elvish Yadav\u2019s conduct, reportedly asking, \u201cYou play with snakes. Did you deal with snakes or not? Can you go to a zoo and play with animals there? Wouldn\u2019t that be a crime? You can\u2019t say you can do whatever you want.\u201d<\/p>\n

The judges further expressed concern over the broader social message such actions might send. The court observed that if celebrities are allowed to use mute prey like snakes, it could set a dangerous precedent. The Supreme Court also questioned the defense regarding the complaint registered under the Wildlife (Protection) Act. Senior advocate Mukta Gupta, appearing for Elvish Yadav, argued that the YouTuber had attended the alleged party merely as a guest.<\/p>\n

She maintained that there was no evidence proving the existence of a rave party. According to the defense, medical reports indicated that the nine snakes examined were not venomous. Following this, the Supreme Court asked the state\u2019s counsel to clarify how snake venom is allegedly extracted and used at such events. The next hearing in the case is scheduled for March 19, 2026.<\/p>\n

The case dates back to November 3, 2023, when Noida Police registered an FIR against Elvish Yadav and five others following a tip-off about an alleged rave party. During a raid, nine snakes, including cobras, were reportedly recovered. Authorities alleged that snake venom was being used at illegal rave parties.<\/p>\n
