The insane level of hitting from the teenager at this age defies belief, and now, as he clobbers his way into the record books with each passing innings, the Vaibhav Sooryavanshi aura is unmistakable.Comparisons have been abound – when was the last time a 15-year-old was hyped like this? It’s Sachin Tendulkar. But even the great man at 15 would not have had the kind of numbers to show that this young guy from Tajpur in the Samastipur district of Bihar has racked up.‘Youngest to’, ‘Fastest to’, ‘Scripts history’ – it’s all in abundance with anything that’s written about him, talked about him during IPL 2026. Former cricketers-turned-experts and analysts are shouting at the top of their lungs to hand the youngster an India debut, while a few, like Ravichandran Ashwin, believe it does not really matter. It is not a question of if, but when – and when he does, just enjoy the show.Often, the question when someone does well in the IPL or any domestic structure and gets calls for an international/senior debut is: can he step up? How will he cope when his skills are tested against international quality, scrutinised for an apparent weakness, and whether he has the mental fortitude to handle the pressure at the highest level? That’s a pertinent question. Many have come in with a chip on their shoulder and faltered – big hype, heavy fall.Yet, in that regard as well, Sooryavanshi seems a cut above the rest, or rather cut from a different cloth altogether. For instance, in the IPL, even with the best players, teams can conjure up, there is always a weak link – or rather, a space or two that opposition can exploit. From a batter’s perspective, you may face two or three high-quality overseas bowlers, throw in one or two Indian internationals, and then there will be a domestic bowler – a young upstart or a journeyman. That is where the opportunity lies. But in Sooryavanshi’s case, it has not really mattered at all. More so, he has aced that test like no other. Almost like using the cheat codes in EA Sports Cricket 07.

Taking on the Best in the Most Brutal Manner

Sample this: in his two seasons in the IPL (IPL 2025 and IPL 2026) so far, Sooryavanshi has faced up to Matt Henry, Kagiso Rabada, Mohammed Siraj, Jasprit Bumrah, Trent Boult, Josh Hazlewood, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Pat Cummins, Arshdeep Singh, Lockie Ferguson and Marco Jansen. And only Rabada, somewhat, has returned unscathed against the Sooryavanshi assault, with Sooryavanshi striking at a mere 125. For every other international bowler of repute, Sooryavanshi has hammered them at over a 200 strike rate, barring Siraj, against whom he has scored at an impressive 170.

Vabihav Sooryavanshi vs Top Bowlers in IPL

Bowler

Runs

Balls

Dismissals

S/R

Matt Henry

9

6

0

316.67

Kagiso Rabada

10

8

0

125.00

Mohammed Siraj

17

10

0

170.00

Jasprit Bumrah

13

5

0

260.00

Trent Boult

7

2

0

350.00

Josh Hazlewood

18

4

0

450.00

Bhuvneshwar Kumar

39

19

1

205.26

Pat Cummins

8

4

0

200

Arshdeep Singh

36

13

1

276.92

Lockie Ferguson

16

5

0

320.00

Marco Jansen

23

10

0

230.00

And Sooryavanshi isn’t just attacking top bowlers – he’s dismissing reputations. Against a roll call of elite names, there are no sighters, no respect for pedigree, just instant intent. A first-ball six off Bumrah, another off Boult, and the same audacity against Cummins. Hazlewood’s first over to Sooryavanshi went 4, 4, 4, 6. But is that so? The mindset of Sooryavanshi is clear – he has the licence to go from the word go, can back it up with his power and judgement of length, and follows the thought process of playing the ball rather than the bowler. But there are also technical aspects working in his favour. Simply put, it is just harder to bowl to Sooryavanshi. And what makes it harder? Simple – the balls that are supposed to keep a batter quiet just don’t work on him. As cricket data analyst Himanish Ganjoo explained on an ESPNcricinfo podcast, “For the average batter, the good length strike rate is about 130. For Vaibhav, it’s over 200.”In other words, the length bowlers rely on the most to control runs is the exact area where he scores freely. And if bowlers miss even slightly and land it fuller, it gets worse. “In the slot, he’s striking at 400,” Ganjoo said. That’s why it feels like there’s no safe option against him. What really sets him apart is how he does it. Ganjoo points out that he hits good-length balls far more often than other batters and even pulls balls from shorter lengths than usual – areas where most players struggle. Sooryavanshi reads the length early, gets into position quickly, and has the bat speed to still hit it hard even when the ball isn’t there to be hit. His high backlift and quick hands mean he can generate power from almost anywhere. Most batters have at least one weakness – short-pitch delivery, back-of-a-length, swing – but with Sooryavanshi, those usual plans don’t seem to work. That’s what makes him feel different from everyone else. And a glance at his mode of dismissals also indicates that a bowler can rarely rush Sooryavanshi with pace, and he seldom misses the line of the ball. Of the 16 times he has been dismissed, Sooryavanshi has been bowled twice and lbw once. Two of those dismissals came after he had already scored 101 and 103.Of his four single-digit dismissals so far in the IPL, only his dismissal against SRH’s by Praful Hinge in IPL 2026 stands out, where he seemed to be outdone by extra bounce while attempting a swipe towards cow corner. The remaining three were all down to Sooryavanshi’s own false shots, which, as of now, remain the rarest of occurrences.

Source link

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has taken down the who’s who of top bowling talent in IPL 2026…

[1
4412,14283,34539,34538,3161,34537,34536
post-14678","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-uncategorized","tag-ipl-2026","tag-pat-cummins","tag-sooryavanshi-vs-cummins","tag-vabihav-sooryavanshi-vs-jasprit-bumrah","tag-vaibhav-sooryavanshi","tag-vaibhav-sooryavanshi-ipl-2026-records","tag-vaibhav-sooryavanshi-ipl-record
["GET
