According to a report by Bloomberg, Republican members of the US House have proposed a law that seeks to direct the US government to identify foreign companies using improper query-and-copy techniques on American models. It would prompt consideration of sanctions on offenders via the Commerce Department\u2019s blacklist and through presidential emergency economic powers established under a 1977 law, the report stated.For those unaware, Chinese companies including Chinese AI labs \u2013 DeepSeek, Moonshot, and MiniMax have previously faced accusations of extracting capabilities from US AI models. <\/p>\n Titled as the Deterring American AI Model Theft Act, the proposed US law is set to be considered by the House Foreign Affairs Committee next week.
