Authorities shut shops and offices, sealed key roads, and deployed thousands of police, paramilitary forces and army personnel across the city. The heavily guarded Red Zone \u2014 home to embassies and government institutions \u2014 has been cordoned off, with checkpoints and blockades controlling every entry point. The Serena Hotel, spread across 15 acres, may appear an unusual choice given Islamabad\u2019s history of militant attacks, including the 2008 bombing of the nearby Marriott.
