Congress has expressed concern over the reported govt plan for a “proportionate increase” in Lok Sabha seats, alleging it will disadvantage the southern states, as also the smaller states, to the benefit of northern states. It argued that the governing BJP has scheduled the session amid ongoing assembly elections to influence voting in West Bengal and Tamil Nadu. Stalin’s criticism of the proposal has raised questions if INDIA bloc will support the bills being brought in Parliament.
