The devastating news was shared by her mother, Kiyoko Kibel, through an emotional message posted on social media.

In her heartfelt statement, Kiyoko revealed the struggles Maya endured during her illness. The family said, “It is with great sadness that I share this news. Maya suffered from a rare condition called Wilson’s disease. She struggled greatly, but her body finally gave out. On the morning of March 7, she collapsed, and her heart and lungs stopped working. It was too late, and she passed away in the ICU.”

Kiyoko also shared that her daughter had been experiencing immense pain in the final months of her life, “She was going through so much pain that she would often cry herself to sleep, but now she has gone to heaven where she can be with her father without pain or tears.” Following the announcement, Nick Jonas expressed his grief in the comments section of the post. The singer wrote a short but emotional tribute to Maya.
