Jamie Lever Recalls the Family’s Emotional Struggle When Her Brother Jessey Battled a Neck Tumor – Woman’s era Magazine


Veteran comedian and actor Johnny Lever is widely regarded as one of the most iconic performers in Indian cinema. During the 1990s, he appeared in countless films and became one of Bollywood’s most loved comedy stars. While his professional life was filled with success, fame, and financial stability, his family once faced a deeply painful chapter when his son Jessey Lever was diagnosed with a tumor in his neck at a young age.

Recently, Johnny Lever’s daughter Jamie Lever spoke about this difficult time during an interview on journalist Vicky Lalwani’s YouTube channel, sharing emotional memories of how the family dealt with the shocking diagnosis. According to Jamie Lever, her younger brother Jessey was around 10–12 years old when doctors discovered a tumor in his neck.

Recalling the incident, Jamie said that at first the family did not fully understand the seriousness of the condition. However, as the tumor grew, it began affecting Jessey emotionally and physically. She revealed that the condition made him extremely conscious about his appearance. She said, “He developed a tumor while he was in school. At first we didn’t understand what it was, but then it became uncontrollable. It caused him anxiety. He even changed the way he dressed to hide the tumor.”

Jamie added that as an elder sister, she always felt the need to protect her younger brother, especially since they studied in the same school. Jamie Lever also spoke about how difficult it was to see her parents dealing with the situation. She described the period as emotionally exhausting for the entire family, “I saw my parents go through a very difficult time caring for our son. Jesse was a very loving child. Watching him go through surgery and recovery was heartbreaking.”

Despite the painful journey, Jamie said the family now feels proud of Jessey’s strength and resilience. She said, “Today we are so proud of the person he has become. He is incredibly strong. If you see him today, you would never guess he had faced such a thing.” Jamie also revealed an emotional moment involving her father Johnny Lever before Jesse’s second surgery. She shared that the actor was deeply worried and prayed intensely for guidance.
