According to filmmaker and actor Yugi Sethu, Kamal Haasan reportedly charged ₹150 crore for his role in Kalki 2898 AD. During a conversation with one of the media houses, Yugi Sethu shared that the legendary actor received the huge amount for a limited shooting schedule. He said, “Kamal sir’s stature is such that he’s getting ₹150 crore for a 20-day call sheet for ‘Kalki 2898 AD’. I told him on his birthday that he had become India’s highest-paid actor, earning about $1 million per day.”

However, the story took an interesting turn after Kamal Haasan introduced Yugi Sethu to the film’s producer. Yugi Sethu recalled that when he congratulated producer C. Ashwini Dutt for making his friend the country’s highest-paid actor, the producer clarified something surprising. According to Dutt, Kamal Haasan had actually shot for only 10 days, not 20. Reacting humorously, Yugi Sethu said, “Sorry, I correct myself. It’s $2 million per day.”
